This weeks post will be focused on new laws that are in the process of being put into place. Congress has finally taken time to address the issues of opioid dependence that has plagued the U.S.A. for years. These possible changes could not have come any sooner! In this article the current laws and bills are briefly discussed and what enhancements may possibly be implemented in the upcoming months. One of the enhancements that have been suggested is the increase in the amount of patients that can be seen by a single doctor. Once a doctor has completed the course for Buprenorphine they are able to see 30 patients. After one year they are able to increase to a max of 100 patients. Should the limit be increased, opportunity for treatment of opioid dependence will be more accessible to those who are in great need.
